The first payment of the Gyeonggi Province Artist Opportunity Income will begin on the 17th.
From the 17th to the 19th, the province will make the first payment of the Artist Opportunity Income (first round, 750,000 KRW per person) to a total of 1,718 general art activity certifiers in 27 cities and counties.
The Gyeonggi Province Artist Opportunity Income project began accepting applications simultaneously in 27 cities and counties from the 24th of last month. Within about 20 days, 8,403 people, or 81.6% of the total 10,298 eligible for the project, applied.
According to Gyeonggi Province, the Artist Opportunity Income will be paid as needed, according to the order of application and review status, after each city and county examines individual income recognition amounts, duplicate benefits, and other factors. The first payment is expected to be completed by August, with the second payment scheduled for October.
Meanwhile, the first payment for new artist activity certifiers, implemented for the first time this year, is scheduled for a lump-sum payment in October after confirming any overlap with the artist activity preparation fund support targets to be selected by the Korea Artist Welfare Foundation at the end of August.
A provincial official stated, “Artist Opportunity Income will be accepted online and offline until July 31. We hope that more artists will apply during the remaining application period so that artistic activities within the province can be revitalized, creating an environment where culture and arts can be enjoyed anywhere in daily life.”
The ‘Artist Opportunity Income’ is a signature project of the 8th popularly elected Kim Dong-yeon administration, which supports artists who create social value with an annual grant of 1.5 million KRW, enabling them to dedicate themselves to creative activities with pride. Following the support for 7,252 artists in 27 cities and counties in 2023, this policy continues to be a key focus this year as well.
